Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb closed a solid season on a low note, rushing for only 24 yards and netting negative receiving yards in the season finale. Despite this forgettable performance, Chubb heads into next year seeking to be the top back out of the backfield and follow up a phenomenal rookie campaign with a stunning sophomore season.
1 year ago: Nick Chubb Tops 100 Yards Against Bengals
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb carried the ball 19 times for 112 yards while adding two receptions for another three yards in his team's 26-18 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16. While Chubb didn't find the end zone in the game, he topped 100 rushing yards in a game for the second straight contest. Chubb now has 972 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, despite not becoming the team's starter until Week 7. The rookie runner does draw a tough Week 17 matchup against a Baltimore Ravens defense that has been stout against the run this season. Treat Chubb more as a mid-range RB2 in fantasy for that game.
1 year ago: Nick Chubb A Low-End RB1 vs. Denver
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb continues to impress as the team's lead back, scoring a touchdown in six of seven games since the Carlos Hyde trade. Chubb will travel to Denver to face the Broncos in Week 15 in what shapes up as a somewhat difficult matchup for him. The Broncos have been solid against the run this season, ranking 11th in DVOA and allowing the 18th-most fantasy points per game. With at least three receptions in each of his last four games, Chubb's production in the passing game has been a pleasant surprise in his rookie year. That production keeps him in the RB1 conversation against a Broncos defense that has struggled to contain opposing running backs in the passing game. Keep in mind the Browns play on Saturday night in Week 15 so be sure to get Chubb active in those lineups early.
1 year ago: Nick Chubb Showing His Floor is Non-Existent
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb took a step back in production, getting only 13 carries for 66 yards versus the Carolina Panthers in Week 14. Chubb kept his hot streak of finding the end zone alive, tallying his fifth week in a row with a touchdown. This is also the second straight week that the rookie running back has been able to find value despite not receiving heavy volume, which should cause owners to salivate, as Chubb's floor seems to be non-existent. The Georgia product looks to continue his success as the team takes a trip to Denver for a Week 15 matchup against the Broncos.
1 year ago: Nick Chubb Has Another Tough Test Versus Panthers
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has been on fire in recent weeks and looks to bring the heat once again in his Week 14 matchup against a solid Panthers run defense. Do not be scared of the fact that Chubb is facing a top-five rush defense, as he proved last week he can compete with the best in the league when he was productive against a solid Texans defense. The rookie running back should have high production and usage in Week 14, and his nose for the end zone continues to create a high ceiling, as he has scored seven times in the last six weeks. Chubb should be in most starting lineups for Week 14 as an RB2.
1 year ago: Nick Chubb Scores, Racks Up 41 Receiving Yards
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb carried the ball nine times for 31 yards and a touchdown in his team's 29-13 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 13. He also chipped in three catches for 41 yards in the losing effort. Chubb continues to be extremely productive in his rookie year, having found the end zone in four straight games and five of his past six. He also has shown much better than advertised skill in the passing game, reeling in nine passes over his last three contests. Chubb will look to stay hot in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers.
1 year ago: Nick Chubb A Solid Option Against Houston
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is coming off yet another impressive outing, which saw him score twice against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12. This week, he will head down to Houston to take on the Texans. Houston's run defense has been stout this season, ranking No. 2 overall in run defense DVOA and allowing the eighth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position. That being said, Chubb should see a heavy workload and he has shown enough in the passing game to be trusted as a fantasy starter in Week 13.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Carries The Browns To Victory
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb picked up right where he left off from before the Browns bye week, as Chubb was all over the stat sheet in the Browns road win against the Bengals. He found the end zone twice against the Bengals, once on the ground and once via a Randy Moss-like catch. Chubb owners should be salivating at the type of production the Browns have been giving the young tailback, as he received a season-high 28 carries on Sunday, and Duke Johnsonwas a non-factor out of the backfield. Chubb looks to keep things rolling next week in a road matchup against the Houston Texans.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb A Must-Start In Week 12
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb draws a fantastic Week 12 matchup against a leaky Cincinnati Bengals rush defense. Cincinnati's run defense ranks 30th in the league in DVOA and is allowing the most fantasy points per game to the running back position. Chubb has scored a touchdown in three of his four starts this season and hasn't dipped below 18 carries since becoming Cleveland's lead back. Locked in as his team's workhorse back in a fantastic matchup, Chubb should be started as a low-end RB1 in all formats for Week 12.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Rips Falcons For Two Scores
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb turned in a dominant performance in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons. Chubb finished with 20 carries for 176 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 33 yards and another score. The rookie runner also set a team record for longest carry when he took a handoff 92 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Chubb has been impressive this season, scoring three times in four games since being installed as the team's lead back. He will be on bye in Week 11 before he takes on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb An RB2 Against Atlanta
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb will look to score for the third time in four games in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons. Chubb has played well since taking over as the Browns' lead back and draws a plus matchup against a shaky Atlanta run defense. The Falcons rank 31st in run defense DVOA this season and are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to enemy running backs. The only issue is that Chubb hasn't been catching many passes for the Browns, which is what is keeping him from being a locked-in RB1 this weekend. Either way, he should be in fantasy lineups as a solid RB2 against the Falcons.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Scores In Week 9
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb turned in another solid effort in his team's Week 9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Chubb carried the ball 22 times for 85 yards and a touchdown while adding one catch for five yards in the game. The rookie running back now has four touchdowns on the season, despite only playing on a limited basis for the first six games. Chubb will look to keep it going in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Draws Fantastic Week 9 Matchup
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb draws a great Week 9 matchup against a weak Kansas City Chiefs run defense. The Chiefs have shown improvement in their pass defense but they continue to struggle to stop opposing run games. The main concern for Chubb, and what is keeping him from being a shoo-in RB1, is the potential for this game to get away from the Browns early. Chubb doesn't catch passes, so he could be phased out of the game plan in the second half if the Browns can't hang with an explosive Chiefs offense. Treat Chubb as a mid-range RB2 with upside.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Gains 65 Yards In Loss
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb gained 65 yards on 18 carries in his team's 33-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8. Chubb got off to a fast start in the game but he struggled after halftime, gaining just 12 yards. He did get involved in the passing game, catching two passes for 10 yards. Chubb has now gained 145 yards and scored once since taking over as the lead back in Week 7. He draws a great matchup against a weak Kansas City Chiefs run defense in Week 9.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb A Low-End RB2 In Week 8
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb made the most of his first opportunity to play extended snaps in Week 7, picking up 80 rushing yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will look to keep it going in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh represents a tough matchup for running backs, ranking 22nd in the league in fantasy points allowed to the position. There's also the chance Chubb could lose work in the game if the Browns aren't able to keep up with an explosive Pittsburgh offense on the scoreboard. For that reason, treat Chubb as a low-end RB2 in fantasy leagues this weekend.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Impressive In Week 7
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb made the most of his first opportunity to operate as the team's lead back. Chubb carried the ball 18 times for 80 yards and a touchdown in a Week 7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The rookie runner looked quick and powerful in the game, breaking tackles and ripping off large runs against Tampa Bay. His score came on a one-yard rush up the middle in the fourth quarter. With former starter Carlos Hyde now a Jacksonville Jaguar, Chubb will continue to see the majority of the carries for Cleveland going forward. He will look to score again in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he will be a solid RB2.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Sees Immediate Boost
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Nick Chubb will see his role boosted significantly with the team trading Carlos Hyde to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday. Chubb has 173 yards on just 16 carries (10.8 yards per carry) and two scores in six games this year, but he just wasn't seeing enough work behind Hyde and Duke Johnson to be a starting fantasy option. He sure will be now, and he'll be in play as a strong RB2 immediately in Week 7 against a poor Buccaneers defense that'll be without defensive tackle Gerald McCoy on the interior. Johnson's fantasy value also will receive a big boost, especially in PPR leagues. The Browns could target him more often with Rashard Higgins (knee) out for another week and Derrick Willies (collarbone) on Injured Reserve.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Still Not Getting Enough Touches
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb draws a favorable Week 7 matchup against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that is allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to running backs. That being said, it is unlikely that Chubb will see the required touches to take advantage of this plus matchup. Cleveland continues to let the rookie running back sit behind veteran Carlos Hyde. Chubb has seen three or fewer touches in each of his six games played this season. He is not a fantasy option in Week 7 and continues to be nothing more than a handcuff option in redraft formats.
2 years ago: Browns Want To Get Nick Chubb More Involved
Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson once again said "we do need to get Nick Chubb more carries" after the Week 6 loss to the Chargers in which Chubb had just three carries for 25 yards (8.3 yards per carry). The rookie has had exactly three carries in each of the last three weeks, but that's the most he's had in a single game in six weeks to begin his career. He had a 100-yard, two-touchdown game in Week 4 and is averaging 10.8 yards per carry on 16 attempts. However, in a backfield that also includes Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson, it's hard to imagine Chubb becoming fantasy relevant unless an injury occurs ahead of him.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Hopes To Earn More Carries In Week 5
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb turned in an impressive performance in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders. Chubb saw just three carries but he managed to score two long touchdowns in his limited work. The rookie running back hasn't seen much work through the first four games of the season as he has strictly played behind veteran starter Carlos Hyde. That being said, it will be hard for the Browns to ignore what he did with his limited chances this past week. Head coach Hue Jackson told reporters on Monday that the team needed to get Chubb more looks in the game. Of course, Jackson also told reporters a few weeks ago that he wanted to get the ball to Duke Johnson more often and that hasn't come to fruition yet. Because of his questionable workload, Chubb remains a risky play in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens, but he should be owned in all leagues as a high-end handcuff.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb To See More Work?
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Nick Chubb, who had his first career 100-yard game in the Week 4 loss to the Raiders, could be in line for more touches after carrying the ball just three times. Chubb had touchdown runs of 63 and 41 yards in the game and had just seven carries for 41 yards heading into Week 4. "Unbelievable," said head coach Hue Jackson. "He has to get some. Hyde is playing well, but this guy is scoring touchdowns from long ways away. I was impressed. I watched those two touchdowns on tape (Monday), and they were even better than they were on the field." It'll still be hard to predict consistent success for Chubb in a backfield that also includes Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson, but this is a step in the right direction for the rookie.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Scores Twice In Week 4
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Nick Chubb made the most of his three carries in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders. Chubb finished with 105 yards and two touchdowns in the game. He turned in one of the plays of the game when he ripped off an impressive 63-yard touchdown run down the right sideline in the second quarter of the game. Despite the big run, Chubb was still unable to unseat veteran Carlos Hyde as the Browns' lead back, as Hyde went on to see 22 touches to Chubb's three. The Cleveland coaching staff appears intent on letting Hyde see the bulk of the team's carries, although it is possible Chubb may see a little extra work after his strong showing on Sunday. He will face off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Sees Just Two Carries
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb saw just two carries for six yards in his team's 21-17 win over the New York Jets on Thursday. The rookie running back continues to be strictly a backup to veteran starter Carlos Hyde through the first three weeks of the season. There was some hope Chubb would start to eat into Hyde's carries but the latter just strengthened his grip on the lead role by ripping off 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Jets. Chubb is a low-end bench stash in redraft leagues going forward.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Sees Just Two Carries In Week 2 Loss
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb saw just two carries in his team's 21-18 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2. Chubb made the most of his looks, turning those two touches into 14 yards. The rookie running back is firmly behind starter Carlos Hyde on the depth chart and it doesn't appear the Browns are very interested in phasing him into the offense any time soon. For now, Chubb is nothing more than a handcuff for Hyde who will need an injury to become fantasy relevant. He remains a much better stash in dynasty than he is in redraft leagues.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Rushes For A Touchdown Thursday
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb turned in a fine effort in his preseason finale on Thursday. The rookie drew the start, rushing five times for 30 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions. Chubb got the Browns off to a fast start in the game, picking up a seven and a 15-yard gain before scoring on a three-yard rush on Cleveland's first offensive series. Chubb finishes the preseason with 45 carries for 140 yards and two scores. He will open the season as the backup to veteran Carlos Hyde but he could force his way into a timeshare later in the year.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Finds End Zone Friday
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb turned in an excellent game against the Buffalo Bills on Friday. Chubb carried the ball 11 times for 53 yards while adding a touchdown and two catches. This was a welcome performance after Chubb struggled the previous week, gaining just 11 yards on 15 carries. Against Buffalo, Chubb looked more confident and decisive as a runner while also showing tackle-breaking skills and some nifty cuts to avoid defenders. Chubb still appears to be the No. 2 back behind Carlos Hyde but he could push the veteran for playing time at some point during the season. Still, he will have more value in dynasty leagues then he will in redraft for 2018.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Slowed By Giants In Preseason Opener
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb had a rough time against the New York Giants in Thursday's preseason game. The rookie runner carried the ball 15 times for just 11 yards while adding a 12-yard reception. While Chubb wasn't great, some of the blame can go to a Cleveland offensive line that struggled to open up holes for the former Georgia Bulldog. Either way, Chubb is going to have to play better to earn carries from veteran starter Carlos Hyde. On the bright side, 15 carries is a heavy workload for the preseason, which puts Chubb on the radar as a DFS play in the team's second game, which will come against the Buffalo Bills on August 17.
2 years ago: Nick Chubb Could Win Starting RB Job
According to ESPN.com's Pat McManamon, Cleveland Browns rookie Nick Chubb could win the starting running back job coming out of training camp. Many have expected veteran running back Carlos Hyde to open the season as the starter with Chubb spelling him as needed and possibly taking over in the second half of the season. According to McManamon, Chubb's time could come sooner rather than later. McManamon cited Chubb's work ethic and ability between the tackles as reasons he could overtake Hyde in training camp. The Browns signed Hyde as a free agent in March, but he could end up being one and done in Cleveland if Chubb shows well during the season. Third-down back Duke Johnson already has the pass-catching role locked up and shouldn't be affected regardless of whether Hyde or Chubb win the starting job.
2 years ago: Browns Select Nick Chubb In Second Round
The Cleveland Browns selected Georgia running back Nick Chubb with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft on Friday. Chubb was a Heisman candidate in 2015 with the Bulldogs before he blew up his knee. However, he bounced back nicely last year and excelled at breaking tackles with his high-end athleticism. He isn't much of an option in the passing game, though, so that will limit his upside at the next level. With Cleveland having Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson in the backfield already, Chubb won't enter the year with any redraft value.
