New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley was impressive against the Eagles on Thursday. The rookie did it all on the offensive end, finishing the night with 13 carries for 130 yards and a score in addition to nine receptions for 99 yards. With the team having issues on the offensive end outside of himself, Barkley will continue to be heavily involved moving forward and should maintain his fantasy efficiency next Monday night against the Falcons in Atlanta.
6 days ago: Fire Up Saquon Barkley Despite Tough TNF Matchup
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley appears to have avoided injury after limping to the sidelines following his second touchdown of the game against the Panthers. Barkley is not listed on the injury report and will now go up against an Eagles defense this Thursday night that has allowed the third fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. They have not allowed more than 42 yards to an individual runner and only one total touchdown all season to the position. Barkley is off to a fantastic start to his rookie season and has at least 100 all-purpose yards in each of his first five games. Barkley needs to be in all lineups to kick off Week 6.
7 days ago: Saquon Barkley Not On Week 6 Injury Report
New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley isn't on the initial injury report for Week 6 against the Eagles on Thursday night. He'll be ready to go. Barkley looked to injury his lower body on a touchdown late in the Week 5 loss to the Panthers, but apparently he's fine. The promising youngster has had over 100 yards from scrimmage in the first five games of his career. He's the real deal and is a must-start for fantasy owners.
8 days ago: Saquon Barkley Catches Two Touchdowns In Loss
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley caught four passes for 81 yards, including two touchdowns in the Giants last-second loss to the Panthers 33-31. Barkley managed only 48 rushing yards but got the Giants on the board by catching a pass from wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and sprinting 57 yards for the score. The rookie then caught a ball in the red zone and skied through the air for his second touchdown of the game. It turned out to be the final offensive play in the game for the Giants and Barkley was clearly shaken up after the play as he hobbled to the sideline. It is unclear what kind of injury Barkley suffered but was in pain as the game ended. His status should be monitored over the next few days.
13 days ago: Saquon Barkley Takes RB1 Status Against Panthers
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is off to a strong start to his rookie season with 453 total yards and three touchdowns in his first four games. He already has 27 receptions out of the backfield and has been quarterback Eli Manning's safety valve in the passing game. Barkley will go up against a Panthers defense in Week 5 that has been beaten on the ground but has limited the production in the passing game for running backs. The Panthers have allowed only 68 receiving yards to opposing running backs through three games but Barkley is a different breed. Barkley again should be highly active in the passing game and will be a strong bet to post 100-plus total yards in Week 5.
15 days ago: Saquon Barkley Posts 100 Total Yards, One Touchdown
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley racked up 100 yards from scrimmage, including a late rushing touchdown in the Giants 33-18 loss to the Saints. Barkley rushed the ball 10 times for 44 yards and added six catches for 56 yards. The rookie's totals of 100-plus all-purpose yards and a touchdown is becoming habitual as the season heads into October. Barkley is quarterback Eli Manning's security blanket and should continue to see plenty of touches from the backfield and in the passing game moving forward. Barkley will be an RB1 despite a tough matchup on the road against the Panthers in Week 5.
19 days ago: Saquon Barkley An RB1 Despite Matchup Against Saints
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will face a Saints defense that has been horrendous in the passing game but has allowed the third fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. But Barkley has shown he is not your average back and has 353 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns through three games. The rookie has flashed the ability to shake tackles and make game-breaking plays from the Giants backfield. Despite the numbers, Barkley needs to be in all lineups as a player that can score from anywhere on the field. Barkley is a top-8 fantasy choice among running backs for Week 4.
22 days ago: Saquon Barkley Racks Up 117 Total Yards, One Touchdown
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley totaled 117 yards from scrimmage, including a 15-yard rushing touchdown, in the Giants 27-22 win over the Texans. Barkley got the Giants on the board with his second touchdown of the season in the first quarter. The rookie has shown a fantastic ability for game-breaking plays and has been every bit of what was advertised when he was drafted second overall in the draft. The sky is the limit moving forward for Barkley.
26 days ago: Saquon Barkley Has RB1 Status Against Texans
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will go up against a Texans defense still trying to find its way in Week 3. Barkley has enjoyed an active first two games of his career, torching the Jaguars for a 68-yard touchdown and backing that up with 14 receptions against the Cowboys. It is not a secret that the Giants offense has really struggled out of the gate but Barkley's skills are as good as advertised. The Texans, through two games, have allowed the 14th fewest points to opposing running backs and it would not be an overreaction to state that the Giants are already in must-win mode. Barkley should be a top-8 play in fantasy for Week 3.
29 days ago: Saquon Barkley Posts 14 Receptions In Loss
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley caught 14 passes for 80 yards and added 28 rushing yards in the Giants loss to the Cowboys in Week 2. Barkley now has back-to-back games of 100-plus yards from scrimmage in his first two NFL games. The rookie saw 16 targets in the game and was quarterback Eli Manning's safety valve as the Cowboys defense picked up six sacks. Barkley has now shown his versatility and capability to do pretty much anything on the football field. The Giants hope for better results next week against the Texans in Houston.
1 month ago: Saquon Barkley Dazzles With 68-Yard Touchdown
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley racked up 128 all-purpose yards and one touchdown in the Giants 20-15 loss to the Jaguars. It was tough sledding early for the highly-touted rookie until he ripped off an impressive 68-yard run for his first professional touchdown. He finished the game with 106 yards on 18 carries. Barkley has the type of talent that can hit a home run every time he touches the ball and showed off his game-breaking ability right out of the gate. After facing a tough Jaguars defense, the Giants could become one of the more explosive offensive units this season.
1 month ago: Saquon Barkley Has Tough Matchup For Week 1
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will make his NFL debut this Sunday but could be in line for a rude awakening. The first round pick has been battling a hamstring injury during the preseason but that is nothing compared to battling the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. The new-look Giants offense will be tested early against a Jaguars run defense that allowed only seven rushing touchdowns in 2017 and gave up the 11th fewest fantasy points overall to opposing runners. Barkley has the talent to become a transcendent offensive player in the NFL but his first game may feature some bumps in the road. Barkley absolutely needs to be in all fantasy lineups for Week 1 but expectations need to be tempered out of the gate.
1 month ago: Saquon Barkley Ready For Full Workload
New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) said he's ready for a full workload in Week 1 against the Jaguars. Barkley was held out of some preseason games as a precaution, but his injury was never that serious. The rookie was a first-round pick in most fantasy drafts and is a must-start in his NFL debut, despite the tough matchup.
2 months ago: Saquon Barkley Returns To Practice Monday
New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) returned to practice on Monday and blew past linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong on a wheel route in seven-on-seven drills. Barkley is just fine and has plenty of time to be ready for the Week 1 opener. The talented rookie will be this team's bell-cow running back, and he's worth a selection in the back end of the first round of fantasy drafts.
2 months ago: Saquon Barkley Returns To Practice
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley returned to practice for the first time in almost a week on Wednesday. Barkley had been sidelined with a hamstring injury but he was back on the field doing individual drills much to the delight of head coach Pat Shurmur. The number two overall pick in the 2018 draft is expected, in many fantasy circles, to go in the top-6 of upcoming drafts. The recent injury may affect the amount of preseason action Barkley will see the rest of August but appears to trending in the right direction for Week 1.
2 months ago: Saquon Barkley Sits Out Sixth Straight Practice
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley missed practice for the sixth straight day with a tweaked hamstring on Tuesday. Barkley was not in uniform for the team's second preseason game last Friday and the team is being ultra cautious with their top draft pick. Barkley has the talent and skill-set to deserve the top-6 fantasy status he currently is getting in most rankings. At this time, the Giants will do everything they can to get their rookie up to 100% before Week 1 and should be ready to roll when the lights come on. His draft status should not be altered because of this injury for now.
2 months ago: Saquon Barkley Not Playing Friday
New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley (leg) will not play in the team's second preseason game against the Lions on Friday. The Giants are just being cautious with the second overall pick in the draft. He will be fine for Week 1 and will be the workhorse back in his first season in blue. Barkley is going near the end of the first round as an RB1 in fantasy drafts.
2 months ago: Saquon Barkley Sitting Out Of Practice
New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is sitting out of practice for the third straight day on Thursday. The Giants are being extra cautious with their stud rookie, and it's probably unlikely that he'll play in the second preseason game on Friday. Barkley was as advertised in the first preseason game and is worth a look as an RB1 in the first round of fantasy drafts.
2 months ago: Saquon Barkley Sits Out Tuesday
New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) did not practice on Tuesday as he deals with a hamstring injury. He suffered a mild strain of his left hamstring while catching a pass in the preseason opener last Thursday. The second overall pick of the draft should be fine, and he looked electric in his limited playing time last week. Head coach Pat Shurmur said Barkley is day-to-day and promised to be "smart with him" as the week progresses. Barkley is the unquestioned first overall pick in rookie-only drafts and should be taken as an RB1 in redraft leagues, too. Don't be surprised if the Giants hold him out of the preseason game this week against the Lions.
